Out, Proud, and Prejudiced

Out, Proud, and Prejudiced by Megan Reddaway

Pub date: 2018

How I read it: Physical book

In a nutshell: Bennet is a young, poor, gorgeous, and ambitious college student. Darius is a haughty, wealthy, gorgeous, and smart attorney. They meet in the small town where Bennet and his pals are studying hospitality. Instant attraction and instant resistance get the story started. They have things in common but circumstances – real and imagined – get in the way. Misunderstandings abound but happy endings win out.

Writing: Reddaway is good at building characters, setting scenes, and moving the plot along. She captures the friendships, love (and lust) between Bennet and his roommates. The text is mildly spicy throughout with a extra heat for the final scene which is definitely rated X.

Bennet gritted his teeth. He’d been such a fool. He’d prided himself on his cleverness, thinking he knew what was what. He’d disliked Darius because Darius hadn’t fallen at his feet the first time they met, and he trusted Wyndham because he had charm. And all the time Darius was the honest man.

And another thing: It sounds strange but I want to try Bennet’s favorite sandwich: crunchy peanut butter and cucumber.

Bottom line: I found this book in a Jane Austen display at the library. ‘Cute cover!’ I thought to myself. While I don’t read a lot of romance and have never read a gay romance, love is love, and next time I’m in the mood I’ll try another Reddaway novel.
